Koh Kong Authorities Crack Down on Suspected Online Scam Site, Arrest 34 Suspects
From August 29 to 30, authorities in Cambodia's Koh Kong Province cracked down on a suspected online scam site in Peam Kay Village, Kaoh Sdach Commune, Kiri Sakor District, arresting 34 suspects, including 33 Chinese nationals and 1 Cambodian national. Authorities seized 746 mobile phones, 33 laptops, 34 desktop computers and other equipment. Cambodian authorities said online scam operations are shifting from large centralized compounds to smaller, dispersed locations such as rented rooms, guesthouses and condominiums.

On August 31, Cambodia's Anti-Drug Department conducted a crackdown operation in a village in Diamond Chen District, uncovering a case of illegal storage, trafficking and transportation of narcotic substances. Authorities arrested a 45-year-old male suspect and seized methamphetamine weighing 0.199 kilograms and 10 mobile phones.

Hong Kong Police Bust Scam Centre, Involving Nearly 600,000 HKD in Illicit Proceeds
On August 28, the Hong Kong Police Force's Commercial Crime Bureau raided a hotel room in Tsuen Wan and dismantled a suspected triad-controlled telephone scam centre. 2 Chinese men, aged 26 and 38, were arrested; 1 reportedly had a triad background.
Police said the pair allegedly obtained registered SIM cards and impersonated insurance companies, payment platforms, online shopping platforms or courier firms to induce victims to transfer money. Preliminary investigations linked the group to at least five telephone scams in late August involving nearly 600,000 HKD (approximately 76,500 USD); the largest single loss was about 380,000 HKD (approximately 48,500 USD).
Police seized a "modem pool" device capable of holding multiple SIM cards, three mobile phones, 2 computers and 53 SIM cards from the room. They also found about 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine and suspected drug-taking equipment.

警方在两处场所共查获8台台式电脑、26台笔记本电脑、440部手机、14台平板电脑及其他涉案物品，并发现2小袋疑似含成瘾性物质的白色药片，具体成分和重量有待鉴定。

Lao Police Arrest 139 in Raids on 2 Suspected Cybercrime Sites in Vientiane
On August 29 and 30, a special task force under the Lao Ministry of Public Security raided the Mangrove Hotel and Glory Apartment in Phai Village, Xaysettha District, Vientiane. Officers arrested 139 people suspected of involvement in cybercrime and online gambling, including 117 Thai nationals, 14 Chinese nationals, 7 individuals from China's Taiwan region and 1 Cambodian national. The group included 54 women.
Across the two locations, officers seized 8 desktop computers, 26 laptops, 440 mobile phones, 14 tablets and other items linked to the suspected activities. They also found 2 small packets of white tablets suspected of containing addictive substances. The composition and weight of the tablets have yet to be determined.

31 Suspects Arrested in Muse for Telecom Fraud and Online Gambling
Myanmar law enforcement authorities searched a house on the bypass road in the Hona area of Kaunghmuton Ward, Muse Township, on August 27, apprehending 31 individuals engaged in online fraud and gambling, including 18 Chinese male nationals, 5 Myanmar male nationals, and 8 Myanmar female nationals. Officials seized 422 smartphones, 18 all-in-one computers, 20 desktop computers and related accessories, 2 Starlink satellite internet devices, 2 Wi-Fi routers, 24,500 CNY (approximately 3,400 USD), 3 vehicles and 3 motorcycles.

Major Drug-Trafficking Case Handled by Thailand's Border Patrol Police Region 2
On August 31, Thailand’s Border Patrol Police Region 2 reported a major drug-trafficking case. According to reports, the suspect was recruited by a Lao drug trafficker with a promised payment of 100,000 THB (approximately 3,020 USD). The narcotics were smuggled across the Mekong River from Laos and scheduled to be transported for distribution in central Thailand. Police carried out a raid and seized a total of 5 million methamphetamine pills from the involved pickup truck, valued at approximately 170 million THB (approximately 5.10 million USD).

Thai Police Bust Illegal Entry Case, Arrest 7 Suspects
On August 30, Thailand’s Highway Police arrested 5 Chinese nationals for illegal entry and 2 Thai nationals for transporting them in Chumphon Province, seizing 8 mobile phones. Investigators found that the 5 Chinese nationals had entered Thailand from Cambodia via an unofficial border crossing and planned to travel to Malaysia. The seized phones contained footage of a suspected scam compound in Cambodia and images of large amounts of cash and gold bars, which police said indicated potential links to a Cambodia-based call center scam network.
